Greater surface area also means more material for the same product, which leads to less effective transport, more waste and increased polution. Non-standarized can size means every can storage system and cup holder which have taken can size into consideration will be worse. I’m sure a lot of vending machines will have to be modified or scrapped for this can design.

Everyone are worse off because of this, and it’s all for attempting to trick consumers and increase profits. Shit sucks.

I can understand it. I was banned without reason from 3 of the top mastodon instances before even posting anything. Creating new accounts is a hassle, and it’s easy to lose faith in the system when bans happen without reason and none of the instances cared to respond to my appeals. In heinsight, I’m sure the ban was due to my username looking like a hash, but I still find it crazy that the appeals were ignored.

  • One translated from Norwegian:

    “Once upon a time… But now it’s a corridor”

I’ll supply the original and an explanation:

“Det var en gang… Men nå er det en korridor”

“Det var en gang” is literally “It was a time/an instance”, and it’s the main way every fairytale starts in Norwegian. But “gang” could also mean hallway.

  • I watched a cooking video a few years ago about cooking a whole chicken. In the video it was said “we’re not going to wash the chicken”. I thought just the idea of washing a chicken was strange, so I checked the comments. It was a trainwreck of people being freaked out and disgusted by how she didn’t wash the chicken.

I had to search through several forums and articles afterwards to confirm that I wasn’t insane, and that I hadn’t lived my whole life with disgusting food habits. But the topic of washing a chicken before you cook it is a strangely divided subject.

Also, I believe that the final verse is a very different translation than what the word-by-word translation would be. My german is rusty af but I believe it would translate to “will you be together until the pussy is dead, and love her also in the worse days”. And the fun part is that the lines are only a slight deviation from the typical wedding vows. “Tod euch scheidet” would be “Death does you apart” and “Tod der Scheide” is “Death of the split (or slang for pussy)”

  • Look at something written 500 years ago. 100 years ago. 50 years ago. Language changes all the time, and there is no stopping that. Yep, language is an endless cycle of switching out common words and adapting to social rules. I’d highly reccommend to follow that flow instead of trying to bring back the “good old days” when n-words and r-words were common and accepted.
