This is so foreign to me. I never bookmark anything ever. I leave a few tabs open until I complete that task, read that article or decide I don’t care anymore.
Be your own package manager. Choose slackware.
No. I’m about to change my number because I get so many spam calls and texts.
I second any recommendation for a kde based distro. Ubuntu or it’s derivatives are the easiest place to start. Kubuntu is the kde based flavor iirc.
My daughter just turned 6 and is competent with a mouse and keyboard. They have kid friendly houses and keyboards on Amazon for cheap. She’s been daily driving slackware since she was 4 and has no idea how badass she is yet.
Gcompris is a great app. It’s a bunch of games for kids to learn letters, typing, mouse skills and some stuff just for fun. Install it on whatever distro you land on. Also, tuxpaint.
I took fell into the 7 million sites blocked trap!
Take an old PC or laptop out of the box-o-crap, install Ubuntu server, give it a fixed IP address, install pi hole with the one line command from their website, tell your regular PC that the laptop IP is your DNS server.
This is the easiest way to play around before rolling out to your whole network.
I haven’t installed it direct on my router. I used to have it running in a container on my little proxmox server (aka old PC repurposed). I really liked the interface.
Then I was practically gifted a really nice Asus router. I flashed merlin-wrt to it and read some guide on how to install a different ad blocker. It’s really good whatever it is. I haven’t had to touch it in months, and I never see an ad.
You and me both
I first tried Mandrake for a couple days in the late 9ps because I heard it was easy. It was definitely easy to brick my system and have no idea why!
So I switched to Slackware and never looked back. I’m still daily driving Slackware all these years later.
Samesies
I’ve been waiting a few weeks for my zima blade 7700 to ship. They’ve been out of stock.
Like what? (Curious)
I’d get myself banned this way. I forget the -p flag at least once per week.
I’ve had good luck with these guys: https://cloudfanatic.net/pricing/
I think they would fall in the less resources category. But they offer unlimited data transfer, and you can use any distro you want. I run slackware btw.
This is the best advice. Heed it!
Mine too! But for a couple days only.
Gold star for you!
Lemmy does a good enough job of bringing content to me. But I appreciate your perspective. It’s definitely something to keep in mind as we get closer to the AI apocalypse.
